Table of content:

  1. Tickets and prices
  2. Timetable

There is a direct train connection between both cities. It takes around 5 to 6 hours to get from one central station to another, depending on a train type you take. The distance between both cities is 445km.

Tickets and prices

New rail operator arrived to Slovakia in the beginning of 2015 bringing more comfortable way of travel. You can find connections at Official RegioJet website [ENG]. If timetable suits you, we would recommend using this service.

TypePrice
Adult from 14.90€
Student with valid student card / Child from 7.40€
Seniors from 12.60€

Slovak nation railway company also connects Bratislava with Kosice, however, the quality of trains and service is far beyond RegioJet. You can buy tickets on the Internet using the Official Slovak Rail page [ENG] where you can look up a connection between Bratislava hl. st. and Košice for a specific date. The list of possible train connections will appear with two different train types:

  • IC - InterCity train – fast and comfortable
  • R - regular train – more stops

You can buy a ticket for IC trains with seat reservation. It is possible to pay using a card. Tickets for regular trains can be bought only at the station.

TypePrice
Adult IC: 19.40€ / R:17.82€
Student with valid student card IC: 13.90€ / R: 8.90€
Children / Seniors IC: 13.90€ / R: 8.90€

Timetable

"IC" trains of Slovak national railway company depart every 2-3 hours from early morning till late night, whilest RegioJet offers only 3 times per day. The regular "R" trains depart every hour.

Search on the Official Slovak Rail page [ENG] or Official RegioJet website [ENG] to see the specific times.

Hi zooey,

yes and no. Depends on what kind of train do you choose. Intercity train (which cover that distance in 5 hours) does not stop in Zvolen. However, normal train (7 hours to get to Kosice) stops in Zvolen.
